At I Want to Learn English (IWLE), we are passionate about the power of education to transform lives, neighborhoods, and nations. And in today’s world, we are keenly aware of the impact English can have on breaking cycles of poverty in families, communities, and societies. Mythos Greek Taverna is hosting a benefit event on Saturday, from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM to raise money for Doctors Without Borders and collect food and medical supplies for the people of Haiti. Nicholas Marks (an incredible guitarist who typically plays at The Hard Rock Cafe) will be performing. We’ll be raffling off products and services from various sponsors in Coral Springs, as well as the shops and restaurants of The Walk. We’d like to get as many people as possible to attend and/or participate. Please help us spread the word. A digital invitation has been attached.

“More than 1,000 participants are expected to participate in the all-day event to raise money to educate young people on health and fitness.
The event includes a 5K Race, a 100-Yard Kids Run and a Volleyball Tournament. Other fun and exciting activities planned include exercise demonstrations and workouts, special games for kids and sampling and information from health and wellness vendors. RAIN OR SHINE.
All proceeds will benefit HealthCorps’ proactive health movement with a groundbreaking educational and mentoring program in five Palm Beach County high schools and eight schools statewide.”

Lifeskills New Facility Provides Residential Treatment in a Relaxed Setting

Lifeskills of South Florida, “a place where second chances become new beginnings” has recently built a 28 bed residential treatment facility for adults with addiction and mental health related issues in Deerfield Beach, Florida. The facility occupies 25,000 square feet and employs 35 people. From start to finish the facility was five years in the making. Lifeskills of South Florida is unique in that it does not follow the traditional “Florida model” of treatment. read more

Family Promise of South Palm Beach County is a charitable organization composed of a network of host and sponsor faith communities of many religions and denominations. It is the faith communities of South Palm Beach Counties response to homelessness for families with children. The program is to bring immediate but temporary shelter, meals, and support services to homeless families. The goal is to restore the families to long term self sufficiency.
